New Online Recording of School Year Will Earn Good Grades From Parents, Teachers

(ARA) – As your children head back to school this fall, you can help them enjoy a fourth “r” that is more fun than the traditional reading, 'riting and 'rithmetic: recording their school days digitally.

Though computers have long been part of children's classrooms, most parents have relied on traditional scrapbooks and photo albums to chronicle their childrens' experiences. Now, parents have another high tech resource. LifeSketch, founded two years ago, offers a complete online memory-keeping solution and is the only company that provides education, ongoing support and powerful online software for preserving memories and stories.

Just as students learn the three r's, LifeSketch customers master the three p's: pictures, pages, publish. First, LifeSketch helps digitize their pictures and send them to the LifeSketch Web site, where the images are securely stored and organized for quick retrieval. Then they create Sketch Pages by combining the photos with LifeSketch's extensive collection of over 600 page backgrounds, over 500 pieces of clip art and 20 fonts. LifeSketch then publishes customers' Sketch Pages as professionally printed SketchBooks (scrapbooks), cards and calendars. Printing multiple copies is one of the convenient ways to share Sketches. They can also be shared online for free or by custom CD versions which can even include audio clips.

While teachers are at the heart of students' schooling, Instructors are customers' links to LifeSketch. They demonstrate the advantages of digital memory keeping at informal workshops, held in the homes of hosts. The LifeSketch Field Sales Support Specialists at the company's home office in Madison, Wis., are also available to answer customer questions.

Parents can use LifeSketch to preserve not only pictures of their young scholars, but also their children's tests, artwork and any other school papers that can be scanned. The text feature allows them to keep track of children's key accomplishments and academic progress. CD SketchBooks offer the option of audios with students reciting the Gettysburg Address or singing in the class musical, and these CDs can be sent to relatives who miss the original performance.

In the classroom, teachers will find that LifeSketch is a vivid way to chronicle their students' school year. For instance, students can offer their own perspective on class trips by making SketchBooks that combine a collection of photos provided by the teacher with each student's own pictures and narrative. The traditional school yearbook can even be brought into the new millennium as a SketchBook.
