NEA Warned to “Let Our Children Go”

(AgapePress) – The National Education Association holds its annual meeting next week in Los Angeles, where it will vote on a set of measures designed to fast-track homosexual themes even more swiftly in the nation's schools. Fearful for what that portends for the children entrusted to public education, one Christian leader — borrowing from the Old Testament prophet Moses — is pleading with the NEA to “let our children go.”

During the first week of July, the Los Angeles Convention Center will be packed with thousands of delegates representing the 2.3 million members of the National Education Association, the most powerful lobbying group in the U.S. In the later part of the week, the 10,000-member Representative Assembly is scheduled to meet to debate and conduct business concerning the NEA's policies and activities. Among the agenda items to be considered is a resolution advocating the “development of curriculum and instructional materials and programs designed to meet the needs of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students.”

Linda Harvey is the founder of Mission:America, a group whose objective is to equip Christians with up-to-date information on cultural issues such as homosexuality, feminism, education, and New Age influences. In a recent commentary for WorldNetDaily, Harvey calls the NEA's plans to continue its push of the homosexual agenda “another new twist in the seemingly infinite ways to assault our kids.”

A former teacher herself who recalls how she was “gently but firmly urged” to join the Ohio Education Association, Harvey says the stakes are “far higher” now than in the 1970s. “How can people who care about children pay money to a group [the NEA] that is so eager to corrupt them, to steal their innocence?” she asks.

“I plead with the NEA and all the other purveyors of depravity, to let our children go,” Harvey writes.

She predicts if the NEA approves the “New B” resolution, there will be a mass exodus from the public schools and a rising up of parents and grandparents who will remove school board members and fire principals and superintendents who “followed the Party line.” She says these things will happen because the NEA is toying with the most basic instinct known to mankind: the instinct to protect our young.

According to Focus on the Family’s CitizenLink, passage of the NEA resolution would mean that homosexuality could be taught to school children as young as preschool age, and that children across the country could be forced to accept homosexuality as a normal, healthy option. On July 3, Focus on the Family, along with Capitol Resource Institute, a California-based pro-family group, will hold a rally and press conference outside the Los Angeles Convention Center to alert the public and NEA delegates to “The Whole Truth” about the pro-homosexual resolution being considered at the NEA convention.
