Mercy!

Baruch 2:19

For it is not because of any righteous deeds of our fathers or our kings that we bring before thee our prayer for mercy, O Lord our God.

The whole point of mercy is that there is no bargaining chip, no leverage, we can apply to earn it.  Excuses you can earn.  But mercy presupposes, not that we haven’t sinned, but that we have.  Today, seek the mercy, not the excuses, of God.  Confess your sin and he will forgive you.  It’s a promise he bought with his blood.
