Mary, Mother of God

That’s the way we are as humans. Sometimes we don’t even realize what we’re doing, or who we’re hurting. Sadly, the same way I treated my mom, is the way countless, even millions of people treat Mary, the mother of God. Without even thinking, they forget that Jesus was her son, and her, His mother. That just as the Ark of the Covenant carried the manna from heaven, and the and the Word. Mary, the New Ark of the Covenant, carried the living Word, and the True Bread from heaven. Millions of people are willing to put pictures of their kids, pictures of horses, or what ever they might choose to hang on the wall, but, they are not willing to put a picture of Mary. They’re willing to put the American flag in front of their house, and put their hand on their heart and pledge allegiance to the flag, but are not willing show their love for Mary for fear of what others might say. People sometimes forget that Jesus loved his mother, and He gave her to us in John 20:26-27 when He said, “Woman behold your son!” Then he said to the disciple, behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. That’s exactly what Jesus wants us to do. To take His mother into to our homes, and to know that she leads us to her son, not away. That she is the perfect example of a Christian, a true follower of Jesus. Isn’t that what we want for ourselves, and others around us.

Back to the little story. When I realized how I had hurt my mom, I promised her that I would never treat her that way again, that I wouldn’t care where we were, or who might see me. I told her that people would know that I loved her dearly, without exception. I gave her the honor that was due to her, and I was better for it.

God Bless You!
