Mountain View, Ark. Terry Wallis, who has been in a coma since a 1984 car accident which left him a bedridden quadriplegic and killed a friend driving with him, suddenly woke up and began talking last month.
“He started out with 'Mom' and surprised [his mother] and then it was 'Pepsi' and then it was 'milk.' And now it's anything he wants to say,” said the director of the rehabilitation centre which was sheltering Wallis at the time. Wallis, 39, believes Ronald Reagan is still the president. “You see, he's still back in 1984,” said Jerry Wallis, the man's father.
