Male Contraceptive Implant Testing Begins in UK

LONDON, UK — A new “contraceptive implant” is set to begin trials in the UK. The implant is designed to release a steady dose of the female hormone progesterone, thereby lowering sperm count and rendering a man sterile. Experts are confident the new measure will effectually neuter men, and predict it will be on the market within three years.

Experts also claim that the progesterone hormone, which the Textbook of Medical Physiology (Guyton 1986) describes as an agent that “promotes the development of the breasts,” and “causes the breasts to swell,” will be side-effect free.

The implant maintains its potency for one year, during which time testosterone production is arrested, thus requiring a man to have testosterone injections every three months.

Trials are expected to be conducted with approximately 360 men at 14 centers throughout Europe, including facilities in Holland, Germany, France, and Spain.

The news harkens back to the wondrous claims about the birth control pill, which was later found to be associated with various serious health risks.
