Re: “Why Was Terri Denied Holy Communion?”
Even though I am a generally ignorant practicing Catholic, I must comment on this article written by Pete Vere. It is rare to be able to find fellow practicing Catholics in these days. It then, when found, looks as gold to the eyes of the ignorant yet willing Catholic lay persons. Literary works such as this ought to be burnt into the minds of general Catholic lay people (figuratively speaking, of course). I commend you Pete Vere for taking the time to put together literature such as this giving people like myself the chance to let it re-kindle the religious fire in my soul. We both know that at the point of confirmation we are spiritually obligated to live our lives as true “Soldiers of Christ.”

To Whom It May Concern:
Finally, someone has come forward and expressed the same concern I’ve felt about Terri Schiavo’s religious rights being denied to her by not allowing her to receive Holy Communion. I wrote to the O’Reilley Report on Fox news and raised that issue, but never received a reply. Mr. O’Reilly is supposedly a Roman Catholic, however, I do not know whether he is a practicing Catholic.
I live in Florida, in the Diocese of St. Petersburg, and I still cannot believe that the Diocese has not issued a statement regarding the violation of Terri’s religious rights. Bishop Lynch had issued a statement regarding her case, but it was nothing but political ramblings as far as I was concerned.
This case is far from over, and we must keep praying and have faith and hope that her husband will see the errors of his ways. I firmly believe that Michael Schiavo tried to kill his wife and this charade is nothing but an attempt to cover it all up.
Thank You for your time,
Lisa Baker
Thank you both for your comments. Keeping issues like this before our prayerful community of readers is very important to us here at Catholic Exchange. Terri’s fight is far from over and she will continue to need our prayers just as our country needs our help to stop its further slide into the culture of death.

Tom:
We talked some time ago, during the startup of your web site.
I can't say enough good things about what you have done since you began it is inspiring.
I know you must be working hard as all the articles I have read and sent to others are of the highest quality. I am continually gratified by the selection of authors and commentators, Catholic and non-Catholic alike, who are just superb choices.
Your site is the site that I know I can always refer my Catholic, fallen-away Catholic, and non-Catholic friends to, for timely teaching and commentary. It is always faithful to the Church, the pope, and more importantly, Jesus Christ, our Head and Redeemer.
Well done, good and faithful servant.
May God Bless you, and the staff of Catholic Exchange, most abundantly.

Jerry, I'm touched by your kind note. Thanks for taking the time to encourage me and the team.
God Bless,

Comment on an article no way every article:
I was introduced to Catholic Exchange about a year ago by a parish priest, Fr. Douglas Mathers of Our Saviour's here on 38th St. & Park Avenue in New York City. In the beginning since I receive so much email “stuff” I collected your messages and, then having so many, just deleted them along with all the other church emails.
About two months ago I began reading, then printing out and reading when I could, then printing out, reading and passing some along. Tomorrow I will email this most recent page to everyone on my 100 to 200 person 'church list.' I am the CRE of our parish CCD and have my parent list and was the founding Coordinator of the parish RCIA (both CCD & RCIA teach in accordance with the Teaching Magisterium of the Church) and head teacher for 6 years and have my student list and family and friends.
I fall asleep each night with piles of read and unread articles from Catholic Exchange at my bedside. Just awoke with one on my pillow.
The children in our CCD have been saving money to send to you we are going to do our final push, then select a donor organization and send you our first check in late January.
It is amazing what one good priest can do. He does not have a computer so is not on your mailing list but one good priest told me about you and I will pass it on and hopefully others will do the same. One good priest!
You are wonderful! May all the blessings of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ continue to flow upon all the labors in your vineyard now and throughout many years to come.

Thank you for the beautiful note of encouragement, Mary. It is a great gift for all of us here at Catholic Exchange.
