Jesus Protects

In the first reading, we read about the foundation of the Church of
Antioch (which is now in present-day Syria). The Good News was
preached by Barnabas and Saul, and people came to believe in their
preaching. We need to constantly listen to those who talk about Jesus.
There is nothing more important than to listen to the Word of God.

In the Gospel, Jesus promises to protect his flock – those who listen
to his words and put them into practice. No one can harm God’s people
since they have overcome the devil and all his allurements. The world
is a battleground between the forces of good and the forces of evil.
We are called to cling to glorious cross of the Risen Christ. In him
we can conquer our sins and defeat the at tacks of the evil one. We
must use the armor of the virtues of faith, hope and love. Jesus
protects us so we need not be afraid. Even when we are threatened with
harm, he will give us the strength and the endurance to overcome it.
He will deliver us from harm.
