I’ve Been Invited to Mass and Don’t Know Anything About Catholicism

Dear Catholic Exchange:

My boyfriend is Catholic, and I know nothing about Catholicism. He wants me to go to church with him. Can you help me understand?

Destiny

Dear Destiny,

Peace in Christ!

Are you asking to have the Catholic faith explained to you? The Mass? You’ll need a general book. There is Fr. Alfred McBride’s Teen Catechism which is based on the Catechism of the Catholic Church.

The “For Dummies” series by Wiley Press (they started out writing computer books like “DOS for Dummies”) has a book called “Catholicism for Dummies” written by Fr. John Trigilio who is one of EWTN’s answer people. The title and the book presume some humility and a sense of humor on the part of the reader.

United in Christ,
