Introduction to St. Elizabeth of the Trinity

A soul united to Jesus is a living smile that radiates Him and gives Him.
– St. Elizabeth of the Trinity “Letters from Carmel”

In 2016, Pope Francis announced the canonization of Blessed Elizabeth of the Trinity, a French Carmelite nun of the early 20th century.

Saint Elizabeth was set upon nothing less than dwelling in God and allowing Him to dwell in her. This was her sole focus. She lived with such an intensity of love for the Blessed Trinity that she allowed her interior life to be totally consumed by God’s love. While the fervor of her charity led her to heaven at the young age of just 26, her piercing insights into the heart of God’s mysteries gifted the Church with some of the most lucid and penetrating treatments on the interior life ever produced.

Recognizing the call to devote her whole being to Christ, even at a young age, she developed a mature faith and adoration to the Holy Trinity. Indeed, Saint Elizabeth enjoyed a life of contemplative prayer and desired that everyone might also enjoy a devotion to the Lord to encounter His great love and mercy.

Introduction to Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity will give you a brief overview of her life, introducing you to the principal themes of her spirituality, while also touching on the major influences on her spirituality. We will also reflect on the charism of her prayer, her particular contribution to the contemplative dimension of prayer for the lay faithful, and her spiritual mission.

We are grateful for this saint who reminds us of the sacred mission to prepare our hearts as a holy habitation for the Blessed Trinity, as we give each and every task of our lives over to God and His will.

Taught by Dr. Michael Gama, Introduction to Saint Elizabeth of the Trinity will be held on May 10, 17, 24, 31, Jun 7, 14 from 8:30 – 10:30 PM Eastern Time. Register today on avila-institute.org

The Word will imprint in your soul, as in a crystal, the image of His own beauty, so that you may be pure with His purity, luminous with His light…
