Give Yourself to God!

Luke 7:47

Therefore I tell you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much; but he who is forgiven little, loves little.

One of the strange realities of the spiritual realm is that great sinners and great saints are cut from the same cloth.  The qualities that made Adolf Hitler an enormously charismatic leader, when perverted, made him an enormous monster of evil.  The qualities that make St. Michael a great archangel are, when perverted, the very qualities that made Satan’s fall so catastrophic.  On the other hand, when a sinner repents, the things that made him or her such a bad sinner can make him or her a great saint.  Saul of Tarsus, that ferocious persecutor of the Church, became one of the greatest apostles when he submitted his life to Christ.  And, in today’s verse, the woman who knew herself to be forgiven much knew herself to have received a huge amount of love from God—love she could give away with all the strength she had previously used to keep God out.  Today, receive the love of God and give him something of yourself you have previously withheld from him.  He will use your gift of yourself in wonderful ways you cannot yet imagine!
