Getting Back in the Saddle

Thank you to all of those who wrote me to express condolences on the death of my Grandma – I can't express how much your support and encouragement means to me.  Attending Grandma's funeral was a wonderful experience – I feel as though I have been on an intense retreat for the past several days. My trip involved an overnight flight on Tuesday, the start of several long and lovingly filled days of prayer, thanksgiving for a life well lived, and celebration of family.  My head is still spinning.

As I return to work this morning, I feel that familiar sense of disorientation that frequently follows a vacation.  I hope to take this morning to get myself back in order.  Looking at those "next steps" in a GTD perspective helps me to feel less overwhelmed by the work that has piled up over the past several days.  As always, I plan to begin my week with prayer and fitness, recognizing that making time for these important Monday morning elements will set the course for the remainder of my day.  Next, I plan to hold a Monday morning weekly review summit to gain perspective on what needs to made up from last week and what lies ahead for this wonderful Holy Week.  Having an organized approach to catching up is critical when we're away from our normal routines due to illness, travel, or even a week of kids being home from school and ready to play!
