TALLAHASSEE, November 22, 2001 (LSN.ca) – Leon County Circuit Judge Nikki Ann Clark threw out a lawsuit Wednesday against Florida's “Choose Life” license plate, which was launched by the pro-abortion National Organization of Women (NOW) and a Palm Beach County synagogue. NOW said they would appeal the decision to the state Supreme Court.
Gov. Jeb Bush's press secretary commented on the ruling saying, “We've always believed that the suit had no merit. People have a personal choice to choose this tag.” Proceeds from the $70 bright yellow plate go to support crisis pregnancy centers which promote adoption.
Interestingly, sales of the plates spiked just after the lawsuit was filed by NOW and the plates have raised nearly $700,000.
