Hi Karen,
I am sending this email from Stockholm, Sweden. Originally I grew up Catholic, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, now I live in Sweden, where Catholics are less than 2 percent of the population! Please pray for this land.
Related to the very nice article you wrote, I can agree! This summer we traveled back to the US and my sister went with my 13-year-old daughter shopping. One shirt she came home with looked like maternity clothes; the other looked like lingerie! The sex industry is working hard to make young girls look like objects.
Have you read about Our Lady's messages from Fatima? Our Heavenly Mother told Jacinta and Francisco in 1917 that “Certain fashions will be introduced that will offend our Lord very much!” That was 88 years ago and she was right as with the other messages she left with them.
Congratulations on the new baby and many blessings!
In the service of our Lord,
Robert
Dear Karen,
Christ's peace to you! Congratulations to you on the birth of your new child! I am writing in regards to your recent article on “Modest Dress” that I found on Catholic Exchange's website.
My name is Meghan McCartney and I am a Catholic missionary with an organization called FOCUS, the Fellowship Of Catholic University Students. Our apostolate is to college students and I mentor and lead these students in Catholic Bible studies.
A hot topic among the women that I lead is our dress and we can now be honest in our discussions of how we can dress modestly for the men we're with, which was an idea totally new to me when I was a college student! And we are “teaching” and “modeling” for the women in other Bible studies and on campus by exactly what we do wear during Mass and on campus. It is a battle to dress modestly and fashionable. But it is possible! These women give me great hope for our generation!
I just wanted to encourage you that you were right on with your article and ask if you might have further suggestions of material to read in this area.
God bless you in your work.
In Jesus,
Meghan McCartney
