Faithfulness Can Lead to Big Things!

Ruth 1:16-17

But Ruth said, “Entreat me not to leave you or to return from following you; for where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge; your people shall be my people, and your God my God; where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the LORD do so to me and more also if even death parts me from you.”

Ruth was not one of the Chosen People.  She was a Moabitess.  But her love for Naomi bound her to the destiny of Israel more surely than if she had been a daughter of Abraham by blood.  By her faithfulness to Naomi in her hour of gravest need, Ruth was assured of her place in the lineage, not only of good King David but of Jesus Christ himself: “Boaz the father of Obed by Ruth, and Obed the father of Jesse, and Jesse the father of David the king” [the ancestor of] Jacob the father of Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ.” (Matthew 1:5-16).  Today, be faithful to somebody in your life.  You never know how such faithfulness will be rewarded.
