(AgapePress) – With the advances homosexuals are making in the entertainment industry, an expert on media and the culture says Christians need to refocus their efforts in the cultural war.
Recently on the hit Warner Brothers television series Dawson's Creek, a lengthy homosexual kiss was featured. Homosexual activists had predicted that family-hour television shows would soon feature physical affection and romance between other gay characters. Ed Vitagliano, Director of Research for the American Family Association, says Christians have lost the fight for decency in Hollywood.
“Hollywood has fully embraced the homosexual agenda and they are intent on pushing as far as they can by taking slow, incremental steps,” Vitagliano says. “I don't think you're going to see anything that's absolutely shocking, but I think what they're going to do is just slowly increase the presence of homosexuals [and] … the amount of homosexual sexuality on television. But they'll do it slowly so that Americans are not overwhelmed by the changes.”
Vitagliano says Christians need to focus on holding back the homosexual agenda in public schools and that churches need to rethink their strategy in the culture war.
“The hope for America is revival. I don't think Christians ought to curse Hollywood and surrender it. I think Christians ought to try to continue to make inroads in Hollywood,” he says. “But the church needs to be about the business of preaching the gospel and changing people's hearts. I think that's the only way to stem the tide of this movement.”
Vitagliano, who indicates he is not surprised at the impact homosexuals are having in Hollywood and the media, encourages Bible-believing Christians to take seriously the Great Commission of Matthew 28, when Jesus told His followers to preach the gospel throughout the world.
Private Manhattan School
In response to the influence of the homosexual movement in schools, an Orthodox Jewish pro-family group is condemning the decision by a New York school to ban Mother's Day and Father's Day. As reported in today's Education channel, students at the exclusive Rodeph Sholom Day School on Manhattan's west side will no longer celebrate Mother's Day or Father's Day. Homosexuals have complained that children raised by same-sex couples could be “emotionally damaged” by such celebrations.
Rabbi Yahuta Levin is with Jews for Morality, an Orthodox Jewish group based in Brooklyn. He says the school is run by what he calls “ultra-liberal” Reform Jews. Levin says Reform Jews lost contact with their faith moorings more than 100 years ago. He also says the school's decision to accommodate the demands of radical homosexuals is yet the latest example of the Reform Jews' departure from scripture.
“[T]his is just another reason why New York is referred to by many Americans as 'Sodom on the Hudson,'” Levin says. “This is obviously another level of capitulation to the militant homosexual network that first said that they wanted basic civil rights but it's obvious that what they're trying to do is to brainwash an entire generation of people.”
Levin says the only threat to these children is that some may wake up one day and realize they do not have a mother or a father, which would be a threat to the artificial environment forced on them.
