Everybody Loves Raymond Star Walks Out of Award Show Due to Vulgarity

LOS ANGELES,- The Cleveland Plain Dealer reported that Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton stormed out of the American Music Awards program last Monday because of the “onslaught of lewd and off-colour remarks” by the awards program hosts, the Osbourne family. Heaton refused to go on stage for her segment of the televised show.

Heaton told the Dealer “I'm no prude, but this was such a vulgar and disgusting show… What was passing for humor basically ranged from stupid to vulgar &#0151 and I just thought, 'I'm not going to be part of this.'”

The prominent TV star was supposed to present a video retrospective encompassing the last 30 years of the American Music Awards. Instead, she stood up and walked out of the Hollywood Auditorium saying she was disgusted.

“The entire evening became about bleeping,” she told the Dealer . “It was as if they were trying to become more like the MTV awards. But it's one thing if this kind of stuff is on MTV at 10 at night. It's quite another if it's on ABC at 8 o'clock.”

“It felt like I was in the Roman Colosseum. As far as I'm concerned, it was an affront to anyone with a shred of dignity, self- respect and intelligence.”

A Patricia Heaton website states “Patricia's walkout at the AMA…has definitely struck a chord with a lot of people out there!” and that “the support that has been coming is just fantastic.”
