Eternally Begotten of the Father!

John 1:2
He was in the beginning with God.

The eternity of Christ is a stunning thing to contemplate: that this manual laborer who stands before us with dirty feet, calloused hands, and a rough up-country accent is, in fact, a being who has existed from all eternity in the blinding light of the heart of God, sharing completely in His glory and showing forth the express image of the Holy One who hurled all the galaxies into being.  It just a bit much to take in.  It’s no wonder the Son “emptied Himself” in becoming human and dimmed His splendor so that we could see Him with our mortal eyes.  We humans cannot bear very much Reality and He is Reality itself.  Just something to think about…

I have been thinking about this awesome mystery as of late.

First: Is it not true that as Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, the Son was pure spirit.  Not until he became man did Jesus the Christ actually exist??

Second thought:  The world was created billions of years ago.  How fortunate that we are living in this age.  Pity the "cave people" and all those millions of humans who did not know Jesus.  Oh, that everyone could appreciate the bountiful love of God, in bringing the universe into existence and us mortal creatures – you and me!  Can it be that world will go on and on for millions/billions of years and that we have been given life now  with the hope of living in eternity with the Trinity, and seeing, knowing Jesus.  Will it not be the greatest surprise anyone can imagine?!

    without end!!?
