His Will, not Ours
Dear Catholic Exchange:
In these days of discouragement and confusion, I thought [‘Eight Great Reasons To Be Single And Celibate’] was a great article for all of us that are single and celibate.
As stated, marriage is not the ultimate end and I can testify to that as I had a marriage annulled eleven years ago, but was blessed with 8 children and 8 grandchildren which was part of God's plan for my life. I have chosen freely to be celibate and single in serving God for the rest of my earthly life. I cannot serve two masters. I feel that for those of us who are lay persons living in the secular world, and not religious or in priestly orders, our challenge is to keep our eyes fixed on Our Lord and let His Spirit guide and protect us as we venture into our daily walk of life.
For all of us, regardless of the road that God has planned for us, being called to a life of celibacy is a blessing and a privilege.
He just may call us to marriage. But everything has to be His will, not ours.
God's love, peace and blessing to all of you,
Sandy

Seven for Celibacy
Dear Catholic Exchange:
I enjoyed Stan Williams' article, “Eight Great Reasons To Be Single And Celibate.” Here are seven more that he forgot:
7. Don't have that nagging feeling that you forgot your anniversary.
6. No nightly battles over who gets more covers.
5. Never hear, “Guess what YOUR kids did today!”
4. Unlikely that you'll find yourself on a 22-hour drive to Disney World with a van full of screaming children.
3. Save big money at your local grocer's “single & celibate double coupon day.”
2. When asked to golf on Saturday, never have to check with wife.
1. Beats being married and celibate.
Sincerely,

Some More Great Reasons to be Celibate
Dear Catholic Exchange:
I'm Single. I'm Celibate. I sometimes think that there are few of us out there.
Thank you for the article [“Eight Great Reasons To Be Single And Celibate.“] Being celibate is a gift, one that I cherish. I can think of some additional (albeit cultural) great reasons to be celibate:
9. No concerns about sexually transmitted diseases.
10. No concerns about “unwanted” pregnancies.
11. Never having to worry about “if you love me you'll sleep with me” guys and their true intentions.
12. Opportunity to find true love and devotion from a future spouse, or if that is not God's will – knowing you'll always have God's true love.
Sincerely,
Cathy B – Wisconsin
