(AgapePress) – Catholics and other Christian groups remember Ellen DeGeneres as the woman who, with Disney/ABC's help, blasted away the last strongholds of resistance to homosexuality on prime-time TV as a lesbian actress playing a lesbian lead character on Ellen.
Now she's coming back to a sitcom (as yet untitled) this time thanks to CBS. DeGeneres will once again sashay into America's living rooms either this spring or next fall, and according to Entertainment Weekly, she'll again be dating women as a lesbian lead character.
DeGeneres appears to love her role as antagonist to the same Christian community that protested her previous brazen promotion of homosexuality. In a February episode of NBC's Will & Grace, which inherited the Ellen mantle, DeGeneres made a cameo appearance as, of all things, a nun.
As Sister Louise, she runs a business with the irreverent name “What a Friend We Have in Cheesecake,” tells Will and Grace that she's not wearing a bra, and asks them, “What's sex with a man like?” Naturally Will, the homosexual lead character, answers the question at the same time as Grace.
CBS does not appear shy about the upcoming subject matter, as the network will also be promoting another “gay is good” sitcom, Some of My Best Friends. It is based on the movie Kiss Me Guido, about two male roommates one heterosexual, the other homosexual.
