The use of euphemisms has been a great help to the abortion industry. Words and phrases like, “products of conception,” “interruption of pregnancy,” “genetic termination,” and now, “early induction of labor,” are used to muddy the waters about what is actually happening in the abortion facility or hospital.
Since the Second World War, the eugenics movement has been evolved by professional ethicists into the pseudo-science of bioethics. It is in bioethics that the practice of re-defining terms has reached its creative zenith. Now it has been discovered that two Catholic hospitals in the US have been killing newborn handicapped babies under the cover phrase, “early induction of labor.”
Tom Szyszkiewicz, a reporter for the Catholic periodicals Our Sunday Visitor and the National Catholic Register, has discovered that two Catholic hospitals — Health System in Chicago and Providence Health System on the west coast and in Alaska — are inducing labor in order to kill the child who is born live. Normally, the procedure — more properly called infanticide — is committed when the child is too young to survive outside the womb. Loyola and Providence have begun the eugenics practice of killing “unfit” children — those with physical disabilities — after the point of viability.
Szyszkiewicz reported in the March 7, 2004, Our Sunday Visitor that the Catholic facilities claimed that in killing children after inducing labor, they were acting according to the US bishops' ethics guidelines for Catholic health care, which says, “For proportionate reason, labor may be induced after the fetus is viable.” It is doubtful that the bishops intended that the “viable fetus” also known as a preemie baby, should then be killed by drowning or suffocation or be neglected to death. The hospitals' actions are doubly inexplicable in the face of recent legislation that protects the life of children born alive under any circumstances.
Jill Stanek, a pro-life activist writing for World Net Daily said she called the hospitals for confirmation. She reports that Loyola's staff ethicist, a priest named Fr. Jack O'Callahan, justified the action. After affirming that the hospital does indeed commit “early induction” abortions he said that they only killed children who are “not going to live anyway.”
