Birth

by Jonathan Hunter-Kilmer

Beloved

I think of nothing else

my mind on You alone

escaped

from all things of this world

my soul and flesh are prone

I lose awareness of my self

You see me

I need not

and feel

naught

but Your tender kiss

stroke

cleansing every thought

the distance

that I made with sin

You banished with Your blood

when I accepted

Your embrace

at last

all was a flood

of peace and ecstasy

awaited

never thought to be

and after all of life

imprisoned

Lover
