“Best Country For Mothers” Study Contains Anti-Life Bias

The Save the Children 2003 Mothers' Index, which has received extensive media play, carries an anti-life bias undermining its credibility. The survey, while commendable in many respects unabashedly supports abortifacients, contraceptives and sterilization.

Of the four indices assessing a mother's health status, one was “percent of women using modern contraception.” The figure would thus negatively affect the country assessments of pro-life countries where such anti-life measures are frowned upon.

The survey considered 'modern methods of contraception' to include “male and female sterilization, IUD, the pill, injectables, hormonal implants, condoms and female barrier methods.”
