The same-sex “marriages” taking place in Massachusetts this week are a cultural and moral disaster for our faith, our country and our world. A radical political agenda is being forced on the American people by unelected judges who are intent on remaking our country, even though 70% of the American people reject same-sex “marriage.”
On Monday, the White House issued the following statement from President Bush:
“The sacred institution of marriage should not be redefined by a few activist judges. All Americans have a right to be heard in this debate. I called on the Congress to pass, and to send to the states for ratification, an amendment to our Constitution defining and protecting marriage as a union of a man and a woman as husband and wife. The need for that amendment is still urgent, and I repeat that call today.”
The laws defining marriage as being only between one man and one woman in the other 49 states are expected to be struck down by an activist Federal Court Judge. There will then be no law forbidding the marriage of groups of more than two people.
As of now there is only one viable remedy to end this cultural chaos the marriage amendment to the Constitution supported by the president and virtually every pro-family organization in the country. The amendment is currently pending in Congress, but we must do more to get it passed.
Representatives and Senators are refusing to vote on this amendment. They say they haven’t heard from but a few of their constituents and thus homosexual and group marriage is something the majority favor. The only way to keep the sacred institution of marriage from being destroyed by our Congress is for you to demand that your Representative and Senators vote for the Federal Marriage Amendment!
You can help in two ways:
1. Call the White House comment line at 202-456-1111 and thank the president for his statement and urge him to speak up more frequently.
2. Call 202-224-3121 and ask to speak with your Representative and Senators today. Demand that they vote for the Federal Marriage Amendment. Demand a clear yes or no response.
If you prefer, you can e-mail your elected representatives in Congress by clicking here for the Senate and clicking here for the House.
