Dear Catholic Exchange Editor:
Thanks to a link from Dr. Scott Hahn's website, I've found your wonderful website and made it my homepage. I thoroughly enjoyed reading Raymond de Souza's article on transubstantiation. Prior to becoming a Catholic (Easter Vigil 2002), I quickly grew to embrace the Church and its teachings through listening to Catholic apologists on the radio and reading conversion stories (I'm a former Lutheran). My hope is that someday I will be filled with the knowledge to explain and defend the faith in such a logical and intelligent manner as Mr. de Souza to my protestant, fallen-away Catholic friends. Thank you and God bless you in this important ministry.
Sincerely,

A Liberal Homily on CE?
Dear Sirs,
On the Homily of the Day for Wednesday July 10, 2002 Msgr. Clark wrote:
“Today's gospel gives us clear evidence of that. In sending out His apostles on their own for the first time, Jesus gives them quite narrow instructions: Limit your sharing of the Good News to Jews only! It would take a good while before Jesus would come to a full understanding of His vocation, which is to all people – without exceptions. ” (Emphasis mine).
I am troubled by this line. Does the monsignor really mean that Jesus Christ did not know what His mission was? Being God, surely He knows that. Please enlighten me on this as I do not want to think that Catholic Exchange would allow liberal ideas to creep in into an otherwise authentic Catholic website.
Sincerely,
Tony Esquillon

Dear Mr. Esquillon,
Jesus was God-man. Catholic theology maintains that Jesus's human knowledge developed as ours does, starting from nothing, a tabula rasa. Keep in mind what St Paul said: “He was like us in all things but sin.” That includes a normal growth in knowledge and awareness of his vocation. Remember also the gospel story about the Finding in the Temple. It concludes as follows: “He returned home with them where he continued to grow in wisdom, age and grace.” Just remember that Jesus was a real man as well as truly God.
Hope this helps,
Fr. Clark
Parital Birth and Dr. Mengele
Dear Editor,
What an informative article by John Allen it should be mandatory reading for everyone. This utterly appalling procedure would appeal to Dr Mengele himself. I just wonder if God will continue to bless our country when we have legalized savage butchery of the almost born. What a horrific anniversary date!
Keep up the good work!
