In building culture we have to remember that each element is simply a means to an end. The point of dressing well, of creating beauty, of marking time, of teaching manners, and of baptizing the mundane is ultimately to reflect the infinite, to point souls towards their Creator. We cannot become trapped in the details or allow the means to absorb us inordinately.
