$12,000 Short of our Fundraising Goal. Please Help.

penniesThe slow response to Catholic Exchange’s fundraising appeals this week has left us $12,000 short of our fundraising goal.  As we close the week, I’m writing one final time to plea for your help.

We try to keep our fundraising appeals to a minimum—just two per year.  We have not asked for your support since December 2012, and I hope we can avoid asking you again for another six months.  But from time to time we must turn to you and ask you to make a tax-deductible donation by visiting our secure online donation form.

Will you give?  And will you give today?

When I think of what we are trying to accomplish at Catholic Exchange, I am reminded of what Frank Sheed wrote in Theology and Sanity fifty years ago:

Although a virtuous man may be ignorant, ignorance is not a virtue. If a man loves God knowing a little about Him, he should love God more from knowing more about Him. For every new thing known about God is a new reason for loving Him.

Day after day, Catholic Exchange brings you more knowledge about God, and thereby more reasons to love Him. On entering our one-stop Catholic news, information, and devotion site, you are greeted by . . .

  • News of interest to practicing Catholics, including events around the world and at the Vatican
  • The finest commentary on the day’s events as well as cultural analysis
  • A collection of the day’s best blogs by the wisest Catholic writers

And, for your daily devotions:

  • The day’s Mass readings
  • A powerful homily for the day
  • The Liturgy of the Hours
  • Daily meditations and prayers
  • Words of encouragement
  • The text of the Holy Father’s general audience
  • An uplifting quote of the day
  • Information about the saint of the day
  • Entertaining and inspiring Catholic videos
  • Pope Francis’s schedule for the day
  • Plus, many more powerful resources to help you “love God more by knowing more about Him.”

For these immensely helpful resources, Catholics turn to Catholic Exchange almost half a million times each month! That’s powerful evidence our services are needed, which is why we keep our articles coming and our costs low.

But we need help.

Will you visit our online donation form and help us?

At present it costs about $100,000/year to produce Catholic Exchange, of which Sophia Institute Press covers about $40,000 in goods and services, charging Catholic Exchange nothing for rent, editing, billing, data entry, phone services, and the manifold other costs, large and small, that eat away at the vitality of most businesses.

The remaining funds must be raised: $60,000/year or $5,000/month. Considering the impact our work has, that’s not really much.

But it’s more than we have.

Can you help?

Will you visit our online donation page and make a gift to Catholic Exchange?  And will you consider choosing to become a monthly donor on the second line of our secure online donation form?

As I said, Sophia Institute Press already absorbs all of the overhead costs. That means that 100% of every dollar you send will go to developing solidly Catholic content day after day.

$5,000 a month is all we need.

Could you sponsor the month of June for us by sending $5,000?  Or half of June for $2,500?

Can you give $1,000, or $500, $250, or even $100, $50 or $25?

Or might you go to our website at this link and become a monthly donor, which helps us now and helps us plan for the future? $100 a month? Could you afford $50 or $25 per month?

Anything you give will help.  No amount is too large—and no amount too small.

And whether or not you contribute, please pray for our apostolate.
