When we look at those people whom God has blessed, we wonder what made them so special. Nothing much really, except that they listened and did what God wanted them to do. God called upon them, and they obeyed. As Christians, we are called to do the same. But what is it exactly that God wants us to do?
Today’s Gospel outlines it well. We should feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, and take care of the sick and imprisoned. Not out of fear of punishment or for personal gain, but because we truly care. Jesus himself set the example, giving up his life for the sake of us all. We can show our gratitude by continuing to be persons for others as well. For whatever it is we do to the least of our brethren, we do unto Jesus.
