U.S. Soldiers Used to Promote Same Sex Marriage?

by Susan Yoshihara, Ph.D. on June 8, 2012 · 34 comments

In a previous post I reported the Obama administration’s new policy of using US government agencies to promote particularly divisive version of the homosexual agenda around the world and wondered if they would use American soldiers to this end.  If events here at home are any indication, the answer is yes.

Officials at Fort Polk in Louisiana allowed what amounts to a homosexual “marriage” ceremony despite the fact that the citizens of that state have strongly upheld marriage and have taken care to make sure their laws and policies reflect that. If the Defense Department could allow service members (who take an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution) to flout the will of the good people of the state that hosts them, there is little reason to believe they won’t impose their agenda on the people of a host nation overseas.

  • John11011

There is no homosexual agenda. This is false. Heterosexuals have an “agenda” too…i.e., to tread on the rights and freedoms of others. Their “agenda” promotes hatred which is antithetical to anything that Christ stands for. We are challenged by our Lord to love one another (even if we disagree) on matters. This is true Christianity. Accusations and criticisms just create hatred and divisiveness. This is un-Godly.

  • Bob Allard

We oppose homosexual activity because it leads people to eternal damnation in hell.  We are not in this life to seek pleasure.  We have been given sexual organs to reproduce.  It is time to get serious about saving our souls because the Day of Judgement draws nearer.

  • Sojourner44

Why do you find it necessary to charge hate?  We are called to love the sinner and hate the sin.  We show love for sinners by praying for their repentance, especially our own.  How can anyone get around the very clear scriptural comdemnation of same sex sins?

  • Nancie245

When people who disagree with our Biblical commands, they use the word ‘hate’.  It reminds me of the few times my children disagreed with my authority and said, ‘I Hate You’. Immencely immature and manipulative statement from children and the same for adults.

  • John11011

God is just judge, not men. Usually the mantra “prayer for the sinner, but hate the sin” is a smoke-screen for hatred. I’ve seen it too often. You can get around scriptural condemnation by thinking outside of the box, and opening your heart to LoVE instead of judging. If we took the Bible literally, we would be stoning people and putting them to death on the streets for every little infraction. God’s mercy is incomprehensible. Two people here use the very powerful words of “condemnation” and “damnation”. This is your only defense of judging others under the guise of concern for others souls?? God is just judge, NOT you. Pray for your own souls that judge and condemn others and are truly away from the real heart of Jesus. This is what Jesus demands of you. Final word. P.S. The day of judgement drawing near? How do you know? Did God tell you this?

  • Bob Allard

What is true love?  Love is not a feeling, it is love in action.  The greatest love that we can ever give is the love that Jesus to gave us, by giving His up His life for our salvation.  We have to love our neighbor and the greatest love that we can ever give is to help others get to Heaven.  We are not living in paradise and we are not here on this earth to seek pleasure.  Being tolerant of others and then not caring about their salvation is not true love at all.

This whole homosexual thing is from satan, who is trying to trick everyone into hell forever.  Sex is for reproduction, period.  Get over it.  The Bible is 100% correct.  Don’t be fooled.

As for the Day of Judgement fast approaching, we must always be prepared for that day.  It doesn’t take a genius to see the signs of the times that we are living in today.  Our world is turning into a Sodom and Gommorah.  Don’t be caught with your pants down, my friends.

  • Tanya Wersinger

We’ve been living in the end times since the Crucifixion and
Resurrection of Jesus Christ. We have to pray for ourselves, that’s true enough and we must pray for others as Jesus Christ commanded .Saint James also had something interesting to say about helping others turn away from sin-  He must know that he who causeth a sinner to be converted from the error of his
way, shall save his soul from death, and shall cover a multitude of sins.- It’s a statement worth pondering. Homosexual relations are mortally sinful.

  • Mercydivine

Condoning sin is always wrong. And judging the person is wrong also, I’ll agree. But judging the sin is not hate or comdemnation. Did you know that you could be held accountable for someone else’s sin if we fail to challange them on their sinfulness. Of course, doing it with love always. As an example, what if someone close to us dies of AIDS and we fail to offer them a chance at repentence? We could be held responsible for that sin. Jesus demands love but also speaking up when someone is in danger of losing their soul….

  • http://quickestwaytoloseweighttip.com/ James Pereira

The Bible said that we have to call out someone who has committed a wrong and try to correct him. If he refuses to listen then to take him to the council to decide his case and cast him out.
The Bible also says that if you see someone doing wrong and close your eyes, you will be judged by the Father.

P.S. Your personal Judgement Day comes when you die and you will be judged on that day, regardless of whether the end of the world has happened.

  • matjusoh

Homosexuality is Satan’s agenda just as a couple to abortion , the object to to curtail reproduction and this is one of the means to stop the future religious from being born into this world.

It is also against God’s command to be fruitful and multiply.

Sexual confusion occured in the Garden of Eden when Adam and Eve consumed the forbidden fruit.

To cut a long story short Mankind and Angel kind are meant to be joined together as one making then in the truest definition of the word Sons of God, God is Father(the main body) from which the Son (God’s Word) comes from with the power of the Holy Spirit (Michael).

Man is made in the image of God i.e. our bodies from which our word comes from, but due to sin, our word does not have the power of our Angel behind it unless God allows it.

What happened in the Garden is Eve joined with Adam’s angel “Luicfer” as Adam joined with Eve’s angel “Satan” bringing a feminised Adam and a masculinised Eve, the further away from God the stronger these characteristics will be.

Those who practise the occult get their powers from the dark forces i.e. demons and fallen angels but linking with them is a pathway to hell to share in their punishment.

The first of the Nephlim was Cain who killed his brother Adam and came about with Eve’s union with Lucifer, Eve’s union with Adam brought Able and Seth.

Although the Nephlim are physically dead their unclean spirits live on as demons.

  • Tanya Wersinger

Pete Lass, what you are saying is baloney

Your comments are absurd.  We are called to repentance and conversion.  Christ told the woman taken in adultery, “Go, and SIN NO MORE.”  We Catholics are held to high standards.  Christ will hold us accountable on the day of judgment if we fail to meet His expectations.  It is our duty not to confirm people in their sins.  And homosexual acts are so grave that they will deprive the sinner of eternal life in paradise.  We are not doing homosexuals a favor by telling them what they want to hear.  We have to answer to a higher power – and we are our brother’s and sister’s keepers.  And please do not try to drag this specious ‘hate’ accusation into the discussion;  It is as untrue today as it was when the pagans of ancient Rome referred to Christians in their own time as ‘haters of mankind,’ who refused to go along with the low moral standards of the day.  How history repeats itself!  How does it feel to echo the sick smears of Nero?

  • Pauly Walnuts

What a peculiar synthesis of heresies, Pete.  A mixture of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Mormonism, Islam, and Talmudic-Zohar Judaism!  Are you planning on founding your own cult?  Cain was the child of Adam and Eve – he was not a child of the “Nephilim” – whatever they are supposed to be.  Eve did not engage in sexual relations with Lucifer.  Please explain how a demon  - which is ‘dead – is able to mate and procreate with a human being – as they are two life forms entirely distinct from each other.  Life comes from LIFE – not from death.  yawn

  • Pauly Walnuts

You are mistaken, John.  The Bible informs us that we possess every right to judge immoral behavior. Our Lord was merely condemning hypocrisy in the passage you are thinking of. Furthermore, we have a moral obligation as this affects our children and our society at large.  Homosexual acts are mortally sinful, depraved, and degrading to the individual.  Homosexual acts, like fornication and masturbation – are not to be encouraged or rationalised, or justified, or trivialised.

You ask if God told us that the day of judgment draws near and the answer is yes, He did.  Open a Bible -

(Eph 5:3)  As for debauchery, and impurity of every kind, and covetousness, there must be no whisper of it among you; it would ill become saints;(Eph 5:4)  no indecent behaviour, no ribaldry or smartness in talk; that is not your business, your business is to give thanks to God.(Eph 5:5)  This you must know well enough, that nobody can claim a share in Christ’s kingdom, God’s kingdom, if he is debauched, or impure, or has that love of money which makes a man an idolater.

(2Ti 3:1)  Remember that there will be difficult times in the last days.(2Ti 3:2)  People will be selfish, greedy, boastful, and conceited; they will be insulting, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, and irreligious;(2Ti 3:3)  they will be unkind, merciless, slanderers, violent, and fierce; they will hate the good;(2Ti 3:4)  they will be treacherous, reckless, and swollen with pride; they will love pleasure rather than God;(2Ti 3:5)  they will hold to the outward form of our religion, but reject its real power. Keep away from such people.(2Ti 3:6)  Some of them go into people’s houses and gain control over weak women who are burdened by the guilt of their sins and driven by all kinds of desires,(2Ti 3:7)  women who are always trying to learn but who can never come to know the truth.(2Ti 3:8)  As Jannes and Jambres were opposed to Moses, so also these people are opposed to the truth—people whose minds do not function and who are failures in the faith.(2Ti 3:9)  But they will not get very far, because everyone will see how stupid they are. That is just what happened to Jannes and Jambres.(2Ti 3:10)  But you have followed my teaching, my conduct, and my purpose in life; you have observed my faith, my patience, my love, my endurance,(2Ti 3:11)  my persecutions, and my sufferings. You know all that happened to me in Antioch, Iconium, and Lystra, the terrible persecutions I endured! But the Lord rescued me from them all.(2Ti 3:12)  Everyone who wants to live a godly life in union with Christ Jesus will be persecuted;(2Ti 3:13)  and evil persons and impostors will keep on going from bad to worse, deceiving others and being deceived themselves.(2Ti 3:14)  But as for you, continue in the truths that you were taught and firmly believe. You know who your teachers were,(2Ti 3:15)  and you remember that ever since you were a child, you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to give you the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.(2Ti 3:16)  All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching the truth, rebuking error, correcting faults, and giving instruction for right living,(2Ti 3:17)  so that the person who serves God may be fully qualified and equipped to do every kind of good deed.

    Hello Bob,

I thank you for your comments. I don’t know if you are Catholic or not, but I’d like to clarify for CE readers that “sex is for reproduction only” is not accurate Catholic teaching–it is intended both for procreation and for the mutual giving of the spouses–sometimes referred to in shorthand as “babies and bonding.” It is a dual-purpose gift. That teaching is scriptural and magisterial.

  • Bob Allard

Sex was designed by our God for reproduction.  It includes the mutual giving of husband and wife.  The Church teaches that the act must be always open to procreation.  Get over it, it’s primarily for reproduction.

The world is crazed about seeking pleasure, including sex.  That is we have so many problems with homosexuals today.  Sex is for reproduction only.  Teaching in this way will encourage the right use of our sexual organs.

This is not our home.  We were cast out of the Garden of Eden.  Our focus should be on getting everybody back home to God, not seeking pleasure or using the teachings of the Church to justify seeking sexual pleasure.

  • Brother_Pilgrim

Now people…John11011 asked us to think outside the box and this is what Pete came up with. See what happens when people think “outside the box” (aka…outside of Scripture and Church teaching)…evil acts and strange stories followed by “why don’t people accept this as truth”…because it is not!

  • catholicexchange

I definitely appreciate your concern over sexual immorality. At the same time, it sounds like you’ve let your concern drive you into a position that distorts Church teaching.

The Church speaks of the procreation of children as the “crowning glory” of marriage, but not the sole and exclusive purpose of the sexual act. The Catechism of the Catholic Church’s section on the sacrament of matrimony gives a richer, more accurate view–also, Pope Benedict’s encyclical “God is Love” goes into wonderful detail about the way a man and woman complete each other by total mutual self-giving, epitomized in the loving act of sex.

Again, I think your enthusiasm on this issue is laudable, but you do the Church and the world she is trying to reach a disservice by truncating what the Church teaches.

  • catholicexchange

In fact, here’s some shameless promotion that also happens to be relevant: Pope Benedict’s homily in today’s feature article, “Dear Married Couples,…” gives some beautiful insight into the “bonding” aspect of marital love!

  • Bob Allard

Do not put the cart before the horse.  Primarily, sex is for reproduction, look at the animals.  There is already too much focus on sex.  We are not on earth, at this point, to seek pleasure.  We must always focus on the spiritual, not the physical.

Most people think that we are here to absorb all of the pleasure possible before we die.  That is what satan wants everybody to focus on.  We are not in the Garden of Eden.  Our job, at this point, is to help Jesus save souls, not focus on pleasure.

    Catholic Exchange, please identify yourself.

  • catholicexchange

    Bob,

“CatholicExchange” means “an official representative of that publication;” in this case, the editor.

More to the point, you are, of course, free to believe whatever you like about the meaning of sex–what I will not allow, as the editor, is for you or anyone to present a view of it that distorts Church teaching while at the same time claiming it is definitive Church teaching. Views claiming that sex is for reproduction only, that we should take our cues about it from animals, that our physical selves should be disregarded in favor of our spiritual selves, etc.–these are all views that fall under the category of various heresies that have been dismissed by the Church long ago.

The key to rescuing our society from sexual depravity is to embrace authentic Church teaching about our sexuality–otherwise we present our own, subjective, lopsided view which inevitably only pushes people further away.

  • Bob Allard

    OK Lord,

Catholic Exchange is owned and operated by Sophia Institute of Bedford, New Hampshire. Sophia Institute is the publishing division of the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts (New Hampshire) and Holy Spirit College (Atlanta).  The views expressed by the authors and editorial staff at Catholic Exchange, however, are not necessarily the views of Sophia Institute, Holy Spirit College, or the Thomas More College of Liberal Arts…………..

  • catholicexchange

I don’t understand your point here. We were discussing what the Catholic Church teaches and does not teach, and how that relates to some of your original comments.

  • Michelle Marie Allen

Although you explain very well to Mr. Allard that marital sex is more than just for pro-creation, may I also add that the “bonding” through marital sexual relations is also another of God’s way of providing that marriages stay intact and that a married couple draws closer to God by showing this kind of physical affection towards one another. This physical act of selfless love whereby each spouse gives to one another joyfully further strengthens that bond. Many couples in their “golden years” still create that bond through conjugal love, even if by all biological reasons (post- menopause women) one would think that their child-bearing days are over.

Although sometimes God still may give the blessing of giving the couple another treasure, a baby.

Isn’t God wonderful ? “For with God, all things are possible.” Luke 1:37

    Beautifully put. Thank you.

The Bible “commands” stoning of wayward children. In many ways it’s a barbaric tome of bronze-age myth. Homosexuals don’t need your remonstration— as if they haven’t been hearing it their entire lives. Why is it you self-righteous busybodies can’t seem to stop talking about abortion and homosexuality— two subjects Jesus never addressed— and don’t take your condemnation to the public at large about what He did condemn, namely divorce? Why don’t you try and enshrine that in the law if you’re so concerned about ordering other people’s lives.

  • Bob Allard

    Stephen,
We have no intention to ordering people’s lives.  We care about people and we do not want to see them suffer for all eternity in hell.  We have to give up our pleasures in this life and pick up our crosses if we want to go to Heaven.

It would be wrong for us to keep quiet and it would not be very charitable for us not to help all people avoid eternal damnation.  And not only that, our country could be facing the same fate as Sodom for sinful homosexual relations.

We speak up because we care about people.

  • Annie

Do you really think with all the children without parents in this world God cares if everyone fruitful. I think he would look favorably on those willing to adopt instead of having children of their own.

  • Annie

I would like to know how many of you were raised as Catholics? I was born and raised Catholic and I have worked at a Catholic school for 20 years and I have never heard so much judging. We are all sinners. It sounds like many of you use your time judging others instead of looking at your own sins. None of us are free of sin, so who are you to “save” anyone else.

  • Bob Allard

It is wrong to be judgmental as regards to persons, but it is equally wrong to refuse to judge actions which cause eternal damnation.

As a Catholic, we should know what the 7 Spiritual Works of Mercy are:

    1. Admonish sinners.
    2. Instruct the uniformed.
    3. Counsel the doubtful.
    4. Comfort the sorrowful.
    5. Be patient with those in error.
    6. Forgive offenses.
    7. Pray for the living and the dead.

As Catholics, our job is not to let people fall headlong into hell, but to help to save souls.  We are not on this earth to enjoy ourselves and then die.  Jesus clearly told us to pick up our crosses and follow Him.  He didn’t tell us to go and seek temporal pleasures.  The sooner we get our heads put back on in the right position, the better we all will be.  Satan is prowling around like a very hungry lion and he will use every imaginable trick to try get people to accept that homosexual sins are OK.  Our sexual organs have been given to us for reproduction.  They are not devices for unlimited sexual pleasure.

By our Baptism, we are all called to evangelize.  By letting homosexuals fall blindly into hell, we would be failing in the very basic works of mercy.  We don’t hate homosexuals, we love them more than the people who just let them do what they want.  We want them to experience eternal life in Heaven.

  • Annie

I don’t remember anywhere in the Bible Jesus judging people as much as you do. Nor do I remember him condemning anyone to hell. You choose to look at the condemning quotes in the Bible when there are many uplifting ones. As I said we are all sinners and will die sinners. You sound like you are above others, which you are not. You seem to take pleasure in appointing yourself as someone “helping” others avoid hell, but the Catholics I know would want no part of your judging others and deciding you goes to hell. Again, once you are sin free, I will consider listen to what you have to say.

You obviously want to live a life void of pleasure. I do not for a minute think that God wants that for us. When I go to play with my kids I am seeking the pleasure of watching them love the world around them. When I ask someone to lunch, I enjoy their company. If you have ever watched a baby it is a natural behavior to enjoy things around them. You sound like a very negative, dark person to me. If you want to spend your life on all the sinners you need to save, that is your right, but don’t for a minute think you will avoid being judged just like the rest of us, if not more.

  • Bob Allard

Please forgive me if it seemed if I was condemning people.  I can’t and I don’t wish to condemn anyone.  As for Jesus judging people, that is His job, He is the Judge over all mankind.  Look over the Gospels.  He didn’t pull any punches when He was on earth.  He was focused on helping each and everyone to obtain eternal life.

I don’t seek pleasure, but the Lord sends it my way unexpectedly and it is a greater pleasure than I could ever seek.  We should not be focused on this life, especially when we will only be here for a very, very short while, as compared to eternity.  I don’t want to see anyone pass up the opportunity to enjoy Heaven with Jesus.

I am not a negative person, but very joyful, rising every morning with the words “Praise the Lord”!  I am a sinner, but if I continue to repent of my sins, the Lord, in His great mercy, will save my soul.

  • Annie

I am sorry, I was raised to see Jesus as forgiving over judging. I understand you cannot have one without the other, but you seem to insist on focusing on judging and finding the bad in people. I don’t need your help or your judgement to be forgiven when I have Jesus in my life. I leave the judgement and forgiveness of others up to Him and Him alone.

A very old priest told me he had a close relationship with one of his parishioners over many years. This man was known to be truly kind to everyone, always help anyone in need and completely devoted to the Church. One day this man came to the priest and said someone very close to him was dying and could the priest take time to be with them while he died. When the priest arrived he learned that this person was the man’s partner for over 20 years. The priest told me he had never seen a wife care for or care more for their husband than this man did for his partner. Although the priest knew this relationship went against the Church’s teachings, he stayed and blessed these two men. The only thing that priest witnessed while with these man was a true love for each other and for God, so he chose not to judge them and let God take care of the rest.

Again, when you feel you are as close to “Godlike” as it gets than maybe you can start pointing out the sins of others, but I still think you maybe avoiding just how far away from “godlike” you are.
