The message of our embassy in Cairo takes on a whole new dimension, now that we know that the attack had nothing to do with outrage over an obscure film. In addition to investigating Susan Rice to see whether she was an innocent dupe or someone saying things she knew to be false, it might be in order to investigate the personnel in Cairo who crafted that apology, to see how much they knew when they issued it.
