2 Corinthians 9:7
Each one must do as he has made up his mind, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
St. Francis of Assisi, with characteristic simplicity, once remarked, “I want what God wants. That is why I am merry!” The simple truth is that God wants us happy. To be able to cheerfully give, not with the pseudo-cheerfulness of somebody who is trying to be “good” but with the genuine cheerfulness of someone who really rejoices to see others happy”that is liberty and happiness indeed. Today, ask God to show you the “good death” of the cheerful giver who gives up worldly possessions for the kingdom of heaven. Want what God wants and you will be merry!
