Hidden in Plain View!

Matthew 13:34-35
All this Jesus said to the crowds in parables; indeed He said nothing to them without a parable. This was to fulfil what was spoken by the prophet:
“I will open my mouth in parables,
I will utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.”

It is one of many paradoxes of the gospel that the God who reveals Himself does so by hiding Himself and the God who is hidden is made manifest in human flesh under broad daylight.  Many people have the notion that the Church was founded on the Bible.  But they overlook something critical: Jesus’ hearers already had the Bible.  When Jesus founded the Church, He founded it not on the Bible, but on Himself as chief cornerstone.  In other words, Jesus taught people to read their Bibles in light of Him and see Him hidden there.  He revealed the true meaning of the Bible by the light of His incarnation, death, and resurrection.  Those who read it in that light suddenly saw hidden in Scripture things they had never seen before.  Those who did not missed the true significance of Scripture, even when it was standing in front of them and saying “I am He.”  Today, ask God to reveal Jesus to you in His word and “utter what has been hidden since the foundation of the world.”
