God Reveals!

Jeremiah 33:3

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things which you have not known.

It is a stunning and almost anti-climactic fact that, if you want God to show himself to you, the first and most sensible thing to do is not “Perform Seven Herculean Feats” or “Show you are worthy” or “Demonstrate your humility by making some degrading act of inhuman sacrifice”.  Instead, the way you begin is by asking him to reveal himself.  And in so doing, you discover something stunning (sooner or later): you discover that the very request for God to show himself was a gift of his grace and that the very ability to ask at all is completely sustained by his power.  God, it turns out, wants to reveal himself to us before ever think to ask him.  Today, thank God for his burning desire that we know him and the “great and hidden things” he died to give us.
