It does seem that the WWII British were led by the nose into ‘courage’ by a determined Churchill. They did go on to give up their empire, and more and more the kind of grit Britain exhibited both in imperial ways and in the throes of armed conflict. It does seem that a Churchillian leader, or George Marshall for us, does not come frequently.
I would have to wonder just where any American leader is, to so bring us along into the vigilance needed for freedom? Some mention Ron Paul, but the man for all his rational ideas compels like a wet blanket in a snow storm. And, let’s face it: Churchill compelled, in his leadership.
Heck, we don’t even have basic commonsense holding forth. Commonsense should have informed every generation that all entitlements are probable Ponzi schemes enforced by governments until economic collapse. Instead, the squeals for entitlements are a pork-fest of drives of government budgets and taxation. But, such general earmarks more and more buy votes, from folks of an age to vote but with little commonsense. So, where are the leaders to point to the errors of the porkiness of entitlements?
Courage - commonsense - among things that seem to have been washed away in the long-term ‘bubble’ of affluence.
