I am excited and filled with much hope as our new archbishop formally takes posession of the great Archdiocese of New York. First, I thank God for Cardinal Egan and for the work he has done for all of us. Second, my prayers go out today for Archbishop Dolan that God bless him and guide him as he leads the flock in NY.
It lifted my spirits to listen to his homily last night during Soelmn Vespers. How true he was in reminding us all that Jesus knocks on the doors of our hearts, but we must open the door, He will not just barge in-we must invite him in! How refreshing it was to hear Archbishop Dolan admit his trepidation as he was invited by the Lord (and the Pope!) to open this new door in his life. But as he said “Trust in the Lord, for His mercy endure forever!”. It was extremely moving to see his warm embrace of the hard working and holy priests of this archdiocese and in extention to all priests. You could see and sense just how much it means to them to have a spiritual father who loves them so much.
God has blessed us with a new Shephered and in turn let us all pray for him now.
