Father Fessio resigns from Ave Maria University

Fr. Joseph Fessio, SJ, the founder and editor of Ignatius Press, former head of the formerly-renowned Ignatius Institute at the University of San Francisco, and student and personal friend of Pope Benedict XVI, has been asked to resign as provost of Ave Maria University.

In my opinion, he should immediately be made either a bishop or Superior General of the Jesuits.

Lively discussion at Amy Welborn's Open Book blog.

UPDATE: Ave Maria University announced that Father Fessio will continue working for the University in a different role.  The Naples, FL newspaper inteviews him on the affair here .
