Into the Deep is Coming! – Get Your Advance Signed Copy

I have exciting news.

Not too long ago I agreed to write a book for Matthew Kelly from Dynamic Catholic on prayer. I was hesitant because I didn’t know if could write it in the style he requested. He wanted something that would help God’s people at the beginning stages of mental prayer when it is most difficult and when most people tend to give up.

He also wanted the book to encourage, inspire, and give them the tools they needed to both begin a habit of mental prayer and continue on the path of prayer in a way that opened them up to an ever-deepening relationship with Him. Before I continue, I thought I would share Matthew’s words of encouragement to those who purchase the book:

Prayer is difficult, joyful, challenging, and life-changing. The journey into prayer, into the heart of God, is the reason we were made; it is the reason God brought us into existence.

You have a defining moment before you on this journey. What you are about to read is clear, powerful, and applicable to every Catholic who knows that there is something more to life; every Catholic whose heart yearns for something more; every Catholic who wants to know God better.

This defining moment exists because God has brought this book to you. He is reaching out to you again, seeking to draw you near. If you answer the call with all that you are, God will match your commitment and he will not only meet you where you are, he will take you to a place that you never knew existed, a place where two hearts—God’s and yours—beat as one.

This place, this journey, this battle is worth every ounce of effort you can give it. It is worth everything you own, everything you aspire to be, everything you are. If you lean in, persevere, and embrace this journey, you will know the life that Jesus has promised, a life of peace and joy that cannot be taken away by the trials of this life.

Lean in, persevere, learn, practice, fight, embrace, rejoice—God is with you on this journey of prayer.

In contrast to how I normally feel about my writing, this book has had a different effect on me.

When I completed the book, I had a very strong sense that it would be used to help a significant number of His people to draw near to Him. This book is also different because I don’t know of a book like it – one that is rooted in the rich tradition of the Church but that IntoTheDeepCover600widthpresents these truths in a way that is accessible to anyone, regardless of their starting point.

Another accomplishment of the book, I think, is that it will not only help those who are new to mental prayer, but it will also help both those who have fallen in and out of a habit mental prayer and those who are looking to take their prayer journey to a new level.

As you can see, the title of the book, selected by Matthew’s team, is “Into the Deep – Finding Peace Through Prayer.” This title is the same name we now use for our new parish events!

For a suggested donation of $30, you will receive a signed, hard cover copy of Into the Deep – Finding Peace Through Prayer as soon as they arrive from the printer.

With the proceeds from Into the Deep, I would like to set into motion the elements needed to eventually open a physical location in which people from around the world can gather. The location, God willing, will house the Avila Institute, a retreat center, and allow us to provide spiritual direction formation. It will also have a chapel, classrooms and an area for 24-hour adoration.
