School of Spiritual Formation
Winter Session
Many people are not aware that the Avila Foundation, parent organization of spiritualdirection.com, is also home to Divine Intimacy Radio and the Avila Institute for Spiritual Formation. Since 2013, the Avila Institute for Spiritual Formation has been instructing the faithful across the world in spiritual theology.
The great thing about the School of Spiritual Formation is that it equips Catholics, both lay and religious, to live out their faith in their various occupations. The Avila Institute’s School of Spiritual Formation helps Christians grow deeper in relationship with Christ. The impact the school has had already has been profound. One student reflected:
“From the beginning it was as though I was on a retreat, gradually moving deeper and deeper in my relationship with the loving God. Our professor (Daniel Burke) was like a spiritual director walking next to us, showing us the infinite love our God has for us, creating us in love and for love. As we moved through these six weeks, I experienced my love for God and my neighbors growing to the most wonderful depth.”
The School of Spiritual Formation could be what you need to take the next step in your faith. The Avila Institute offers various different programs for students to learn about the mystical tradition of the Church. The School of Spiritual Formation is the least academically rigorous and the easiest to fit into a busy schedule! You can join in the live/online classes or watch them via video whenever and wherever that best suits your busy schedule. Winter Session begins January 4 and registration is open. Here is a list of course characteristics:
- Format: Live/Online or Recorded
- Course Duration: 6 Weeks
- Courses begin January 4.
- Class Time: One 1-2 Hour Class Per Week
- Grading: Pass/Fail
- Student Interaction with Professor: As much as desired.
- Student Interaction with Other Students: As much as desired.
- Each 6-week course is $150
- Number of Courses to Earn a Certificate of Completion from Avila Institute’s School of Spiritual Formation: 12
Courses offered this winter include Discernment of Spirits, Introduction to St. Teresa of Avila, and Introduction to St. Francis of Assisi. You can also apply for financial aid. About Dylan Jedlovec
Dylan Jedlovec is an Operations Administrative Assistant at the Avila Foundation, parent organization of SpiritualDirection.com, the Avila Institute for Spiritual Formation, and Divine Intimacy Radio. Finishing up an undergraduate degree in Marketing and Economics from Samford University, Dylan is first and foremost a disciple of Christ and a son of the Church. Dylan has a heart for evangelization on college campuses, and has worked closely with FOCUS as a student missionary and served as President of the Catholic Student Association at Samford. As a member of the University Fellows Program at Samford, Dylan developed a love for the writings of the Saints, particularly the Doctors of the Church, through his studies of the core texts of the Western Intellectual Tradition. This love for the rich intellectual tradition of the faith brought him to the Avila Foundation, where he seeks to further the kingdom through feeding Christ’s sheep. In his free time, Dylan enjoys watching baseball, reading, hiking, running, and lifting weights (although you can’t really tell).
