Check out the CD by Professor Janet E. Smith called, Natural Sex is best. It's a great resource for secular, scientific arguments against contraceptives.

Here's reason-based for you: Pro-life feminism. Hormonal contraceptives are carcinogenic. The non-hormonal IUD is linked with all kinds of uterine problems. Barrier methods make a woman sexless, an object of pleasure. "Wham, bam, thank you, Ma'am."

Tell me, O great militant feminists, how does this make life better for women? It's just makes exploiting women easier.

To get at the root of the problem, the Church (that's you and me) are going to have to start developing some sound, reason-based arguments against legal contraception. They need to be reason-based, as opposed to revelation-based, because the vast majority of our fellow countrymen reject all or part of the Christian revelation. The argument could go something like this: "Once a potential child is seen not as a human life, but as a problem to be avoided, the door is opened to destroying that life if it is conceived by 'accident.'"

Ending legal contraception is the only permanent remedy for the abortion catastrophe. Getting people to see the issue that way is going to be a colossal challenge for the Church, as even many Christians and conservatives have a huge blind spot when it comes to the practice of contraception. In the meantime, we need to work on overturning Roe v. Wade and outlawing abortion in all 50 states. But we also need to keep our sights set on the ultimate goal: the end of the contraceptive mentality that has poisoned our society at its very heart, the family.
