"In It’s a Wonderful Life, when George Bailey tells Uncle Billy that the three most exciting sounds in the world are anchor chains, plane motors, and train whistles, something stirs in my marrow" I can completely relate to that quote in every possible way.

Hey, the cathedral in Seattle is a sight to behold. The American church is kind of like the "nouveau riche" younger brother of the European People of God. That said, it's true that there are no signs outside of London saying "entering historic London," or a marker that declares "historic Stonehenge, founded by Druids in 600 BC."

But with youth comes vitality. Europe's Church, as I understand it, is reeling from malaise and lack of interest, while America's Church remains much more vibrant. I'd wager a few good things are going to come out of the Church in the U.S.A. over the next few decades, and while they might not be steeped in history, we are nevertheless instructed to "bring out of the storehouses things old AND things new."
