There are other ways to show God appreciation for His loving goodness towards us.
Time is money, is one that comes to mind.

The spirit of the tithe is that it is the "first fruits" of the harvest. Since you are unemployed and are not harvesting, I would say not to tithe. You can still trust God for the things you need as he knows you have stopped tithing for a good reason. I have struggled with tithing for years, have stopped all together and then started again several times, and always God has taken care of my because that trust was there. The trust in God's Providence is the most important thing in the relationship. God bless your search for employment.

Do you recommend tithing on unemployment payments?

I am a single mom and I have tithed closer to 15% all of my life. I lost my job 3 months ago and lately I am not even finding jobs to apply to any longer--that I am qualified for, that is!

It seems out of character for me to not be tithing but I can hardly make my house payment on my unemployment check, not to mention trying to pay all of my other bills too. We do not have a TV and do not waste money on eating out, entertainment, etc. I have let my health insurance go, trusting God in that department as well.

In a few weeks my savings will be gone...I am quite sure that there are many others out there like me.
