May God help us all. May both lungs of the Church breath together. God love you all.

The Middle East Christians have no sympathizers or allies.
The Jews are preoccupied with their own Jewish interests.
The European Christians are preoccupied with their own European, non-Christian interests and we're preoccupied with American interests, which is supporting the later two.
Nationally, Orthodox Christianity is on the same level as the pro-life Rosary clutching protesters in front of abortion clinics. When they go to jail neither Obama nor Fr. Jenkins care.

The war between Islam and the Christian west never ended. The Orthodox are on the front lines of that war. Their sacrifices prevent Mohammed from laying siege to Vienna. When they are overpowered we're next in line.
This time there will not be a Martel or Richard the Lionhearted to answer the call.

I'm encouraged that there will always be the Northern Lion, Sobieski.

1500 people held captive in a building while molotov cocktails crash through windows, raining down on them.

You'd think THAT would make the news. However, I happened to stumble upon that crime against Coptic Christians by Cairo's muslims. The Coptics were dedicating their new church when they were imprisoned in the church. (I can't remember how I initially found the story. Sorry.) A Coptic acquaintance of mine said the persecution is constant.

At the time, about 1 1/2 years ago, I searched the WWW for more information.

Nothing.

Nothing in from any major online US news source.

I felt disgusted by the cover-up,yes cover-up, and deeply saddened for my Coptic brothers and sisters: descendents of some of the first people to hear the Good News and embrace it.

We "Comfy Christians" will be judged, just like the Rich Man was judged for stepping over the poor man Lazarus who lay at his doorstep.

Thanks CE. We no longer live in darkness.

THANK YOU for this very important article. Sometimes it seems we westerners are willing to "write off" the whole mideast as belonging to Islam, forgetting that the Egyptians, Syrians, Lebannese, etc were the first to convert to Christianity. The faith of the Eastern Churches is nothing less than heroic - surviving all these years of persecution and marginilization!

Sadly, I doubt whether the US will take action to help the Copts. We are so eager to prove the US a friend to the Muslim world that we consistently turn a blind eye to the persecution of our brother Christians. Persecutions of Christians increased in Iraq after our invasion for example.

We all need to fervently pray that Our Dear Lord continues to strengthen persecuted Christians throughout the world, and preserves (and increases) the Eastern rite Catholic Churches in the Mideast.
