		<description>My uncle was a veteran of the Aleutian Campaign.  He was not a combatant in the battle for Attu, but he had plenty of stories to tell us about the hardships of fighting the elements on the islands.  Fighting boredom was easier: if the weather allowed and duty allowed, they got a baseball game going.  It is sad they got so little recognition over the decades that followed.  Uncle Vince died in 1997 at the age of 86.
