I attended an interesting workshop on Stewardship this week. A statement was made that struck me, soundly. "Don't think of tithing as giving God your 10%. Think of it, instead, as God allowing you to keep 90% of what is His". How true - and what a deal!

It's true that Jesus is never outdone in generosity. Just because what comes back is not necessarily "coin of the realm" doesn't make it any less a return on our "investment". My only objection to this article is the idea of "giving till it hurts". There are surely some who give that much. But, shouldn't we be striving, instead, to give "till it doesn't hurt at all"? By that I mean that if all we have and all we are is surrendered to God, we won't feel any "hurt" in giving God what is His in the first place! We only "hurt" when we have to struggle to let go of some of what is OURS!
