When these laws come, which I think they inevitably will*, we will again have a need for martyrs in the Church.

Not the kind of martyrs who are thrown to the lions. We will need bishops, pastors, and directors of Catholic services to continue their work and flout any requirements that such laws have for the Church to act in opposition to its teachings.

They will then be subject to arrest, conviction, and prison for their "criminal behavior." What else will wake up the faithful enough to rise up as we should and oppose this terrible trend?

* Once again, we have found our voice too late. The Archdiocese of Washington
has delivered a fine testimony, no doubt, but it will fall on deaf ears.
