Television is something I'm more than willing to live without. I'm ever so grateful that my parents greatly limited television in our home: http://arkanabar.blogspot.com/2007/10/television-ration.html

So true! My son is almost two years old, and people are shocked when they learn that he has never watched a TV show in his entire life. I hear people singing the praises of educational TV like Noggin, but my son has learned all his colors and shapes and many numbers just through one-on-one play with me. He's also extremely verbal and loves books. There aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I want to do with him, so I can't imagine having time for him to watch TV.
