Deliverance!

Psalm 50:15

Call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you shall glorify me.

Jesus, facing the specter of the Cross, cried out to his Father, “Now is my soul troubled. And what shall I say? ‘Father, save me from this hour’? No, for this purpose I have come to this hour. Father, glorify thy name!” (John 12:27-28). He called upon the Father in the day of trouble and was delivered, not in the way we would expect but in a vastly transcendent way. Conventional wisdom says “Deliverance = rescue from experiencing pain and death.” God’s said to his Son, “It is too small a thing to merely keep you from pain and prolong earthly life. I shall deliver you by destroying death from the inside. And in delivering you I will deliver the world with you.” And so Jesus bore the Cross and received the Crown, to the glory of God the Father. Today, glorify God with your cross. He will deliver you.
