I don't have a holy smile and I almost always DO throw a tantrum. But Jesus is very patient with me, and I have yet to be taken out to the woodshed. The sense that Jesus is I AM and I AM means NOW, that our Faith is about living in the eternal present, is something I think that is lost on many people. Yet it is a very valuable notion, because it allows us to be happy today without having to wait for the life to come.

One of the accusations leveled against the Catholic faith is that it tells people to mindlessly accept their sufferings in the hope of an afterlife; nothing could be further from the truth. Jesus came so that we might have life, and have it in abundance; and that means today, NOW, not after we're in the grave. So don't be afraid to ask God for what you really want. Jesus means for you to conquer, not exist. All things are possible, so "be not afraid."
