Bellarmine

September 17th, 2009 by jpride Print This Article Print This Article ·

Bellarmine, Bellarmine, your name rings true,
Secured in the Faith that you did proclaim,
Rooted in Reason, you sang Faith anew,
Pealing out God’s glory e’en o’er man’s shame.

In your age, you were surely a doctor,
Curing deceit, for Truth is first what matters,
But to us, you’re more–you are a father,
Guarding us in Love from the Lie that shatters.

Like a pristine window of colored glass,
Structured and strong, yet gentle and pleasing,
Translucent, letting all radiant light pass,
Thou, in Truth, our hearts, with Love, are seizing.

To gain the treasure of wisdom, ’tis true,
Is to win the friendship of God Thou knew!
