		<description>I think I understand the principle of subsidiarity, and the nationalized health care idea certainly goes directly against it.  I view subsidiarity as a good thing in practical terms, at least.

Here are the two things I don&#039;t understand.  Why is subsidiarity a religious value in the first place?  What is the link between it and our moral teaching, or the gospel in general?  Can someone refer me to a document explaining how this works?

The other thing is, given this principle, why has the USCCB consistently lobbied for health-care &quot;rights&quot; in a way that, directly or indirectly, means takeover of health care by the government?  Seems to me they are being self-contradictory in so doing.</description>
